Going to Quito

So, I'm hoping to come see the presentations in Quito, but it sounds rather expensive (for us non-Fulbrighter tag-alongs) so I'm trying to figure out if I can get there more cheaply. Does anyone know the actual itinerary for the week in Quito- i.e. where you're staying, when the presentations are, if there are other activities planned, etc?

Also, I don't know if anyone besides David would know this, but does anyone know approximate costs of busing from Lima to Tumbes (and possibly on to Quito) or names of companies that might do it?

And if anyone wants to join me on a 30+ hour bus ride, I'm sure it'll be a blast!!
